Description

NI-9505 C Series Motor Drive Module

NI-9505 (part number: 779126-01) is a C-series motor drive module designed by National Instruments. It is equipped with 3 differential or single ended input lines. This module includes an integrated encoder interface. The NI 9505 offers unique flexible features and customization. NI 9505 is compatible with LabVIEW FPGA modules. It generates customized motor drivers and actuator amplifiers. The LabVIEW FPGA module generates a PWM signal and transmits it to NI 9505. Compare the PWM signal with the expected current or torque. By increasing the PWM duty cycle, the current can be increased. Therefore, the torque also increases. The recommended PWM speed is 20 kHz, with a maximum of 40 kHz. The recommended operating temperature range for this device is -40 to 70 ° C, and the storage temperature range is -40 to 85 ° C. The NI 9505 module allows orthogonal encoder signals to pass through. The signal is processed in the LabVIEW FPGA module.

These signals are used for position and speed loops. SoftMotion provides more innovative motion control applications and offers position and velocity PID control as well as trajectory generation capabilities. It can also provide blade exclamation marks and encoder applications. SoftMotion uses LabVIEW FPGA module and LabVIEW Real Time module to achieve this. The NI-9505 also features a flexible low-power sleep mode. It depends on the chassis to which the module is connected. Usually, communication with modules is disabled when the system is in sleep mode. The power supply will also be significantly reduced in sleep mode. The NI 9505 uses a 9-pin female DSUB connector; It provides connections for encoder input. It also provides a+5V connection for the encoder power supply. In addition, it can also connect emergency stop inputs and COM connections. The NI 9505 also has a screw terminal connector. This connector allows for connection to DC brushed servo motors and enables the module to connect to the motor’s DC power supply. The device weighs 5.5 ounces and has an active power consumption of 100 mW. In sleep mode, the power consumption is as low as 0.4 mW.

Backshell Kit
For signal wire strain relief, high-vibration environments, or protection from high voltages, use the NI 9940 backshell kit. Note that this kit is not compatible with the D-Sub version of the module.

D-Sub Accessories
The D-Sub version of the NI 9264 module was designed to accommodate standard 37-pin D-Sub components. NI offers a variety of cables and terminal blocks for this connector option. To eliminate the need for a breakout panel and conserve space, use the NI 9933 37-pin D-Sub connector block. This accessory kit comes with a D-Sub to screw-terminal converter as well as a protective shell to create a custom cable for your specific application.
