CI858-1 sensing film head
The flexibility of the 3051C coplanar sensing membrane head is the most suitable sensor technology for pressure measurement. Figure 1 shows two types of 3051C sensing membrane heads. The sensor remains mechanical with the process medium and the external environment Electrical and thermal isolation. The sensor is moved away from the process flange to the neck of the electronic housing for mechanical and thermal isolation. This design makes the sensor not directly contact with the process heat source, and releases the mechanical stress on the sensor cup, which can improve the static pressure performance. The glass sealed pressure delivery pipe is insulated from the sensor cup. CI858-1 ensures electrical insulation and improves the flexibility, performance and transient voltage resistance of the electronic circuit.
The Model 3051C sensing head also performs temperature measurement to compensate for temperature effects. During the factory characterization process, all sensors are subjected to pressure and temperature cycling tests over the entire operating range. The correction coefficient is generated according to the data thus obtained, and then stored in the memory of the sensing membrane head to ensure accurate signal correction during the operation of the transmitter.


The memory of this kind of sensing membrane head can also help speed up the maintenance process. Because all the characteristic values of the membrane head are stored in the membrane head, the circuit board can be replaced directly without re checking or removing the independent PROM that stores the correction coefficient. There is also a circuit board in the sensing film head, which directly converts the input capacitance and temperature signals into digital signals that can be further processed by the electronic board module.

The electronic board adopts application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and surface packaging technology. The board receives the digital input signal and its correction coefficient from the sensing membrane head, and then corrects and linearizes the signal. The output part of the electronic board module converts digital signals into analog outputs and communicates with the HART manual operator. The standard Model 3051 analog output is 4-20mA, and the low-power transmitter is a voltage output (1-5V or 0.8-3.2V). The optional liquid crystal meter is inserted on the electronic board to display the digital output in terms of pressure, flow or liquid level engineering units or percentage of analog range value. Both standard and low-power transmitters can use liquid meter heads.
