Description

The Fieldbus Communication Module (FCM100Et or FCM100E) or the Field Control Processor (FCP280 or FCP270) interface the redundant 2 Mbps module Fieldbus used by the FBMs. The FBM231 accepts communication from either path of the redundant 2 Mbps module Fieldbus – should one path fail or be switched at the system level, the module continues communication over the active path.

Through standard input/output interfaces, signals can be received from sensors and switches (such as buttons, limit switches, etc.), as well as control (on/off) devices (such as indicator lights, alarms, motor starters, etc.). The typical AC input/output signal is 24-240V, and the DC input/output signal is 5-240V.

Although the input circuit varies depending on the manufacturer, some characteristics are the same. When evaluating discrete outputs, consideration should be given to fuses, instantaneous surge protection, and isolation circuits between the power supply and logic circuits. The fuse circuit may be more expensive at the beginning, but it may be less expensive than installing the fuse externally.
