With the continuous improvement of technological level, the requirements for DCS system in power production are also constantly increasing. The stability and reliability of DCS system determine the efficiency of power production. Relevant practitioners must have sufficient understanding of common faults, fault causes, maintenance methods, and handling methods of DCS system, while ensuring the implementation of relevant regulations, reducing the impact of human factors, and minimizing the failure rate of DCS system. This article only provides a brief explanation of the daily maintenance and fault analysis and troubleshooting of DCS, and more in-depth issues require further analysis by technical workers.
01. Power supply
The DCS power supply system is mostly a “dual backup hot redundant power supply”. The prevention and control of power supply failures are mainly reflected in inspection and daily maintenance. Maintenance personnel need to keep records of the operation of each control cabinet according to the actual situation.
Generally speaking, as long as the unit operates normally, the fault rate of the DCS system is low, and the faults that occur are mostly “single circuit power loss”. As long as the faults are eliminated as soon as possible, the DCS system can be restored to operation.
Maintenance method: ① Use infrared temperature measurement equipment to check the temperature of power cable wiring, wiring, terminal blocks, and screws, and troubleshoot issues with excessive temperature; ② Check if the screws at the wiring, terminal blocks, and cable connections are loose or overheated, and check if the fuse capacity is consistent with the circuit diagram; ③ Check if the UPS power output is stable and if there are any issues with the UPS power wiring method; ④ After the DCS power supply alarm occurs, immediately identify the cause of the problem, eliminate the fault, and avoid long-term operation of a single power supply; ⑤ If the fault involves the controller and the power supply cannot be quickly replaced, corresponding preventive measures should be taken to avoid abnormal initialization of the controller.
▶ Fault analysis:
The power supply is an important part of maintaining the normal operation of the DCS system. If problems occur, the cause of the problem should be identified as soon as possible. The main causes of faults are as follows:
① Poor contact of cables, wiring, and terminal connectors;
② The power supply causes loose connections during operation;
③ Poor contact at the bolted connection due to external force;
④ Poor insulation layer quality or increased power line impedance;
⑤ Poor contact caused by external corrosion;
⑥ The wiring method of the power cord is unreasonable;
⑦ The grounding wire arrangement is unreasonable, resulting in magnetic signals that interfere with the operation of the power system.
