Rockwell 1769-OF8C Analog Output Module PLC

Rockwell 1769-OF8C Analog Output Module PLC

1. 1769-OF8C DIN Rail Mounting:

  • The Compact 1769-OF8C Analog Output Module is designed for DIN rail mounting, offering flexibility in installation.
  • Utilize DIN rails of either 35 x 7.5 mm or 35 x 15 mm dimensions (EN 50 022 – 35 x 7.5 or EN 50 022 – 35 x 15).
  • Ensure proper mounting by closing the DIN rail latches and pressing the module against the rail, allowing the latches to secure the module in place.

2. 1769-OF8C Replacing a Single Module within a System:

  • The module can be replaced within a system without the need for panel removal.
  • Follow these steps:
    1. Remove power.
      • Refer to important notes on page 3.
    2. Detach the module.
      • Remove upper and lower mounting screws or open DIN latches.
    3. Disconnect the bus.
      • Move the bus lever to the right to unlock the bus.
    4. Disconnect adjacent modules.
      • On the right-side adjacent module, move its bus lever to the right to disconnect.
    5. Slide the module out.
      • Gently slide the disconnected module forward, ensuring proper disconnection.

3. System Wiring Guidelines:

  • Consider the following when wiring your system:
    • All module commons (ANLG COM) are connected within the analog module but not to earth ground.
    • Channels are not isolated from each other.
    • Use Belden 8761 or equivalent shielded wire.
    • Properly ground the shield junction and drain wire.
    • Limit overall cable impedance for optimum accuracy.
    • Keep the I/O system close to sensors or actuators for reduced cable length.
    • Current outputs of the 1769-OF8C module return to ANLG COM, with load resistance for a current output channel between 0 and 500 Ω.

4. External Power Switch:

  • The 1769-OF8C features an external 24V dc power switch, offering the option of using an external power supply.
  • The switch, located on the lower left of the module’s circuit board, allows toggling between the 1769 system power supply and an external power supply.
  • When pressed on the top (default), power is drawn from the 1769 system power supply via the I/O bus.
  • When pressed on the bottom, power is drawn from an external power supply wired to the module’s terminal block.
  • The external power supply must be Class 2 rated, with a 24V dc range of 20.4 to 26.4V dc and a minimum of 160 mA.

By organizing the information in this manner, each section provides clear instructions and considerations for different aspects of the Compact 1769-OF8C Analog Output Module, facilitating ease of understanding for users.
