Description
ABB announced that it will cooperate with Beijing Zhixin Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of 07BR61R1 State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group, to provide shore power solutions for Dalian Container Terminal, located in Liaoning, to help it improve power supply reliability and reduce the environmental impact of berthing ships on the port and surrounding areas.
In recent years, in the context of China’s energy transformation, the State Grid Corporation of China has actively promoted the electric energy substitution plan of “replacing coal with electricity, replacing oil with electricity 07BR61R1, and electricity coming from afar” to increase the proportion of electric energy in terminal energy consumption, so as to achieve the purpose of energy conservation and emission reduction and improve energy efficiency. The “marine shore power” project of Dalian Port Container Terminal is one of them.
In this project, the shore power solution provided by ABB provides high-quality power supply for container ships coming and going from Dalian Port to replace on-board diesel engines for power generation through marine shore power technology, so as to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby reducing the environmental impact of berthed ships on the port and surrounding areas.
Based on ABB’s shore power solution, ships docked at the container terminal of Dalian Port can quickly connect with the shore power supply without interrupting services such as lighting, heating and cooling, and turn off the onboard diesel engine at the same time to eliminate carbon emissions, noise and vibration during berthing in the port. At the same time, this technology also helps Dalian Port accelerate the return on investment by making use of the income brought by the power supply for ships, so as to provide funds for further improving the supporting construction of power infrastructure.
At present, most container ships are equipped with shipborne electrical systems that operate at 60 Hz, while the frequency of domestic power grids is 50 Hz. ABB solution can convert the power from the power grid to the load frequency and voltage level that can be directly connected to the shipboard power grid, realizing the seamless connection between the onshore power supply and the shipboard power grid.
In the first phase of the project just completed, ABB provided two sets of PCS 100 static frequency converters, power transformers, 50 Hz and 60 Hz medium voltage switchgear, as well as control and protection equipment. ABB will also provide junction boxes through its shore power partner Volt Group. ABB will be responsible for the design, engineering, installation, commissioning and overall project management of shore power solutions.
ABB, a green power solution, will not only bring long-term reliable power supply to Dalian Port, but also help local communities to improve the surrounding environment and help Dalian Port build an environment-friendly and ecological green port.
