In the Smartpro DCS system, all hardware modules have a corresponding GSD file configured. Therefore, in DCS, the GSD file of AB’s communication module SST-PFB-CLX should be copied to the TARGETHollySysPCBasedIO directory, and then SST-PFB-CLXFENGJI (DP_Slave) should be directly added in the hardware configuration. The station number and name, as well as communication parameters, of the slave station should be set in the hardware properties.


According to the number of variables required for communication, both parties negotiate to set the size of the communication area. In the communication program, there are a total of 62 communication variables, including 21 analog input points, 4 analog output points, and 37 digital input points. One analog point occupies one WORD, while one digital point occupies one bit of one WORD. Therefore, on the DCS side, the communication area length is set to 2 16 word In and 1 12 word Out. On the PLC side of AB, create a network configuration, set network parameters, Baud and station number, and initialize communication parameters.

Set the SST-PFB-CLX module attributes in RSLOGIX5K, specify a communication area, and the input module on the master side corresponds to the output module on the slave side. Therefore, two 16 word Out and one 12 word In are set. Add Profibus config (communication initialization program) and TX-config (program for reading, writing, and processing communication variables) to the Main Program of RSLOG IX5K, copy the variables you want to send to DCS from the internal buffer to the output area of the communication area, read the data sent by DCS from the input area of the communication area, and copy it into your own internal buffer before downloading to PLC.
