When the inverter detects an abnormal state, it will display it through the LED indicator on the operation panel, and the LCD on the panel will also display the corresponding fault code, alarm word and other messages.
The displayed state, UFC721AE, has a corresponding relationship with the severity of the abnormal state, which is generally divided into alarm and fault. The alarm is a prompt type, while the fault is often to be shut down. The user can figure out the content according to the status message. If it is slight, it can be ignored or even prohibited to continue. If it is serious, it needs to be stopped immediately for inspection and treatment.

1. The LED red light is always on~indicating that there is a “fault”
When the frequency converter detects that a very serious problem has occurred, or it thinks that a fault exists, it will respond accordingly:
① : The red LED is always on or flashing
② : In the parameter group Group 30, some fault functions that can be reflected by the frequency converter are provided. At the same time, the user can define the response action of the frequency converter, and the corresponding fault word can be found in 0305-0307.
③ : The control panel will display the corresponding fault code.
④ : If the motor is rotating, the motor will stop working after failure.
Operation after failure:
After the fault code appears on the control panel, press any key such as “Menu MUNU”, “Enter”, “Up ↑” and “Down ↓” to clear the fault display status. However, if the fault status point is not completely cleared, the fault message will still be displayed on the panel after a few seconds.

2. The LED green light keeps flashing~indicating that an “alarm” has occurred
The alarm is just a comparison with the fault, which is not too serious. It is often a suggestion and reminder to the user, and generally does not directly cause a shutdown.
① : The LED green light on the control panel or inverter body keeps flashing. (It should be noted that if the operation is wrong, it may also be caused.).
② : There are also alarm words in 0308-0309.
③ : You can use the control panel to query specific alarm contents and messages.
After an alarm occurs, even if no action is taken, the panel will disappear automatically after a few seconds. However, if the alarm status always exists, the alarm status will return to the control panel soon.
3. How to reset the fault
① Automatic reset
ACS510 series frequency converters can automatically clear and reset some fault types. Specific functional details can be set through parameter group 31. For example, 3108 can reset faults through external ports such as EX1 and EX2. If these faults happen to be in an effective state, after resetting the fault, the frequency converter will immediately resume its working state, and the motor will rotate, which may cause certain dangers, so it must be used with caution.

② Measures to eliminate red light
After a fault occurs, the LED red light may be on or flashing. If it is on, pressing the reset key RESET on the control panel may eliminate it.
Whether the red light is always on or flashing, power off for more than 5 minutes to completely discharge the power in the capacitor. The chip is in the initial state, and power on again. If the fault has disappeared, the red light will return to the normal state of off.
③ Other ways to eliminate the fault state
For parameter 1604 FAULT RESET SEL, different fault reset methods can be set to achieve the fault elimination status, such as through digital input ports or some communication modes. This method is better for use with devices such as frequency converters and PLCs. It should also be noted that if the fault disappears, use these external reset methods to reset. It does not rule out that the motor starts suddenly, and pay attention to the safety of people and equipment.
4. View historical fault records
Group 04 parameter group. You can also view the historical fault records. 0401 represents the last fault, 0402 represents the penultimate fault, and 0430 represents the third penultimate fault. In this way, when the frequency converter fails, you can enter these three parameters to check whether the last three failures are consistent, and expand your thinking to find out the cause of the failure.
Historical fault records can also be cleared by manual operation as follows:
Through the control panel, find the parameter 0401 inside, then press the Edit EDIT key, and then press the ↑↓ key at the same time, and select the Save SAVE key to complete the reset operation of historical faults.
