Description

The Setup Wizard provides step-by-step instructions for the initial configuration of a servo amplifier and for performing a simple test drive. You can access the Setup Wizard by right-clicking the name of the servo amplifier in the AKD Overview screen. The Setup Wizard is useful for setting up your system for the first time. The wizard checks the connection to the servo amplifier and guides you quickly through the process of configuration and commissioning.

Plug-Play feedback systems skip several steps (feedback, brake) as the servo amplifier automatically adjusts these settings. You can select the preferred units for all systems, configure your operating mode, fine-tune the system (tuning) and perform simple typing movements within the wizard. If the basic system configuration meets your requirements, you can save your settings to the servo amplifier and exit the wizard.

To use the servo amplifier, communication via WorkBench and an Ethernet connection is required. If you have basic knowledge of networking, you can quickly set up communication with the servo amplifier. The servo amplifier uses TCP/IP (globally recognized standard for high-speed communication); For successful communication, the AKD and your PC must be set to this protocol. This chapter describes the setup of a TCP/IP connection between your PC and a servo amplifier.

Automatic addressing (also known as “dynamic”) uses the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), which allows a device to be quickly and easily connected to a network. The automatic IP addressing configuration of the servo amplifier is done via the two rotary switches (S1 and S2 on the front side). To configure the PC to automatic mode, select the option “Get IP address automatically” in the TCP/IP screen. During the first communication with the servo amplifier, there may be conflicts over the use of IP addresses with other programs or devices connected to your PC. If a servo amplifier is not detected, disable other devices (in particular, a wireless device or a decentralized network connection). If you still have problems connecting to the servo amplifier, refer to the troubleshooting and troubleshooting chapter in this manual.
