Description

In SFD, Endat and BiSS feedback systems, the AKD servo amplifier is automatically detected and the correct motor parameters are automatically set in the amplifier. When the engine is automatically detected, the parameters on the engine screen are grayed out and inaccessible. If you are using a standard feedback that is not a plug and play device (such as incremental encoder or resolver), you can enter the standard AKM, cartridge motor, DDR or DDL motor on this screen. To enter other motors, select Custom motor and set the parameters (see section on motors without memory). Select the default motor from the drop-down list and confirm with OK and the AKD servo amplifier will display all the parameters required for proper motor operation.

For engines that are not plug-play motors, a database of catalog motors based on Kollmorgen’s various engine series is available. When you select an engine series, a corresponding part number appears. You can change the part number as needed. Depending on the selection made, the full engine name is displayed. This full motor name is sent to the servo amplifier. The bold segments of the part number are required values.

Pay attention to the correct units when entering the engine data. The AKD servo amplifier uses the motor parameters to set up the various feedback circuits and limits associated with the selected motor. Note: If you select a custom motor from the list and click OK, the selected custom motor will be displayed in the Select Motor screen.

Use the Feedback screen to configure your system for the appropriate feedback system. By default, the amplifier uses the Auto setting to detect feedback systems. This setting allows the amplifier to query the feedback system to determine if it is a detected plug-and-play device. When the amplifier detects the device, all parameters for this device and the motor are loaded onto the amplifier. Both the feedback and motor information are now present on the amplifier and the system is ready for operation. If the return is not a plug-and-play device, you can select it from the list of supported devices in the Feedback Selection list and enter the bar number manually. The following sections describe all supported devices available in the Feedback Selection list and the input information required to configure each device.
