At present, DCS is a common system equipment in chemical plants, playing an important role in chemical production; OPC, as a universal standard protocol, is also supported by common DCS systems in the market.

OPC communication is generally divided into two situations: one is communication within a computer, and the other is communication between different computers within the same network. If it is internal communication within the computer, only the application program (OPC server) of the data provider needs to publish OPC, and the OPC client can directly collect data. If it is the second case, then it is necessary to configure the computer for DCOM before the client can collect data from the server.

Here, we mainly explain the DCOM configuration required for OPC communication between different computers:

1、 The settings on the server and client are the same
Find ‘Run’ in the Start menu bar and enter dcomcnfg
Find the DCOM Server Process Launcher in the service (local) and set its startup type to automatic;
Firstly, it is important to clarify the meaning of time synchronization, which means that all data acquisition machines at the bottom level have the same time and must use the server as the standard time. As shown in the following figure, locate the Zijin Bridge project on each data acquisition machine and enter the configuration environment. Establish a remote data source and input the IP address of the server.
Find OpcEnum in the service (local) and set its startup type to automatic;
Select Computer in Component Services, and then My Computer will appear in the right area. Right click on My Computer and select Properties;

2、 OPC service settings on the server side
On the server side, locate the application that needs to be published by OPC, and then right-click to select Properties;
Make the following configuration in the routine:
In the logo, click the buttons in the three red areas, add the following three user names, and then set the attributes to allow.
Next, you can use the OPC universal testing tool to access the OPC data on the server end on the client end. If the collection is successful, you can use the Zijinqiao software to directly access the OPC server data.
