X-SB01 HIMax defifi nes a completely new performance category. Its

power is based on high-performance system components and

intelligent system architectures, including:

• High-performance RISK processors for fast calculations
• Processing of all fifi eld signals in the I/O modules, which

means that analog values are X-SB01 processed at the same time

as digital values.

• Implementation of a system bus with a 1 GBit/s transmis

sion speed.

• Multitasking capabilities: 32 user programs can be run simul

taneously, with each program having its own cycle time.

The system components

All this produces impressive performance specififi cations:

• Calculating 1,000 PID controllers increases the cycle time

by less than 10 ms.

• Events are recorded (SOE – sequence of events) at a 1 ms

resolution.

• Complex mathematical models can be integrated and cal

culated.

• Up to 2,048 I/Os per cabinet
• A system with up to 12,800 I/Os
• Per system with 200 I/O modules on maximum with 16 racks
• 250 systems per network

X-SB01 The diagram shows cycle times. For example, the cycle time

for 1,000 I/Os (half analog, half digital I/Os) is just 50 ms.

X-SB01 The HIMax multitasking operating system lets you run up to

32 independent user programs in one system. Each program

has its own safety-related checksum. This means that a sec

tion of the system can be overhauled or extended without

affecting the other programs in any way. HIMax’s multitasking

capacity enables use of individual programs with their own

cycle times. This, in turn, allows you to integrate slower parts

of the plant (such as a burner management system) and time

critical areas (such as turbine machinery control) with the

central HIMax system. X-SB01 It also means that fifi xed cycle times are

possible for every application.

With its multitasking capacity, the HIMax system demon

strates just how effifi cient and economical a modern safety

system can be.

Each HIMax system can defifi ne up to 20,000 different

events and store up to 5,000 events. X-SB01 This applies to both

analog and digital information. With digital values, every

change constitutes an event. In the case of analog values,

four thresholds can be defifi ned. Every time the value ex

ceeds or drops below a threshold, an event is triggered.

In the processor modules, all of the values are recorded

together with their cycle times – if required. Alternatively,

events can be recorded directly in the I/O modules every

millisecond. Events are recorded at 1 μs precision.

This data is sent to other systems via OPC AE. Different

systems can be synchronised between the HIMax systems

via SNTP, or by using external time servers that derive their

time from systems such as NAVSTAR-GPS. This enables you

to make decisions on the same time basis even if the system

is spread out over long distances. You will fifi nd the cause of

faults more quickly and be able to resolve them faster.
