In case of short circuit at the near end of the generator, the generator terminal voltage may not meet the requirements for forced excitation when it suddenly decreases for a lot. When the forced excitation is weakened, the short circuit current will decay rapidly, which will cause the time limit relay at the outlet to refuse to operate and expand the fault. Memory function relay must be added.
During excitation, the remanence of the generator is not enough to provide the conduction voltage of the silicon controlled rectifier, and the generator cannot be self-excited, so additional excitation power supply is required.
