Description

Nowadays, there are not many inverters used for crane lifting, and they are mostly used for high-power motors. Generally, small power hoists use dual speed motors, which saves costs. However, some industries still require the use of variable frequency speed regulation to achieve lifting.

Our company has received a project for a 3T monorail crane and requires the use of a frequency converter for lifting. We are currently using ABB ACS350 with a braking resistor. The company uses electric chain hoists and tapered rotors.

Because during the descent process, if the button frequency is too high, it will cause the brake to not work and cause the hook to slip. Two delay contacts are now added to ensure the effectiveness of the brake. The macro selection of the frequency converter is alternating macro. Due to the tight holding brake of the gourd itself, it may not be able to open the holding brake when the frequency is too low at low speeds. However, adjusting and increasing the frequency can solve this problem.

Summary: Due to not conducting long-term experiments, it can only be determined that it can be used for infrequent operations. But this design method is feasible.
